front shackle flip for the rear end?

Post by Zorm »

I have read a few posts and see that the front shaclke flip may not be a be an option with my springs? or maybe cut the normal drops in half because of the rear shackle set up?

ok, crickets, so then what about just moving the front shackle up a few inches, would get the same effect of lowering the rear right? I also want to put on Duffy's traction bar kit.

You can do a half hanger flip on the front with the FlexOMatics however you may have to correct the pinion angle by loosening your u-bolts and rotating the axle back to the original pinion position. Either that or use shims to correct. Unfortunately, everything I read says you can't lower the FOMs to compensate.

The shackle flip that Ive seen had to do with a 2wd leaf spring mount. You took the front 2wd rear leaf mount and used it on the 4wd front. Then took the existing 4wd front and swapped it to the rear of the leaf spring. Then you flipped the shackle and lost the lift blocks and still gained lift. I think that is how Ive seen it on a build thread. I have never done this though but might do it when I am way further into my build.
