Need Advice - Buying 1969 F100

Post by 69Ford100 »

Hi - This is my first post in a long time. I am considering buying a 1969 F100 but image of VIN tag has me worried; painted over and looks like it was sliced off at the bottom? should all the corners be curved? what if 2 are curved and 2 are square? is ~$23,000 too much for an 69 F100 with new (created) 302 w/ 2,000 mi on it? VIN says it was manufactured with a 360. looks good in photos; reto 2 years ago. thoughts?

First off check the VIN number on the frame against the title......that's the one that matters - it will be on top of the passenger side frame below the alternator - if that doesn't match the title walk away. The door tag - if it wasn't painted over - is for warranty purposes. And since they painted over the tag it makes me wonder what other corners have been cut - those rivets that hold it on are a couple dollars and easy to replace.....for that kind of money I would be all over it with a fine tooth comb......

This will help with what it should look like......

Also I think in some places the frame VIN must match the door tag VIN........which are reproduced by Marti Auto Works.........
