Tranny probs....what the sam devil?

Post by tazzman68 »

Alright, here's the scenario, went out to start and warm up the truck, and as I am sitting there with it in park, the damn thing jumps into drive!
So I tagged the brakes to keep from hitting the wood pile in the driveway, and try to readjust the shift lever to get it back into park. At this point I realize that
Park is Drive,
Reverse is Neutral,
Neutral is Reverse,
Drive and Second are both also Neutral,
and First is also Drive!

Has anybody ever heard of such a thing happening? The tranny is the MX, (think FMX industrialized) I just don't get it...any idea's?

Sounds pretty dang wierd. lol I would check all of the linkages first off. If all that is fine I would think some of the linkages inside the tranny have come loose allowing the manual spool valve to float around at will
To check this you would need to drain the fluid and remve the pan.
These gus are good with Ford trannies.

My first thought was a valve body problem.

Check the linkage first. It seems that inside the column there was something to mess around with. I think Keith may had posted something on it. Check the linkage anyway.

Where were you Sunday?
