Confused and would like expert help!

Post by beejaytx225 »

Hi everyone, I'm fully convinced I have a 68 with the ranger trim package but the grill throws me off. Here are pictures. Bed emblem:

Exterior trim:

And grill:

There is no ranger emblem or the holes where it would have mounted on the grill. Does anybody have any idea what's going on here? I am confused on the years these trucks had the front emblem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It all looks right as far as the trim package goes so my guess is that the original grille was damaged at some point and replaced with just a standard 68 grille. The grilles were identical except for possibly the mounting holes for the emblem.

Thank y'all for the replies. I kinda had the same feeling but wanted confirmation. Looks like I'll add it to the to-do list! :)

I don't think the ranger badge uses any holes in the grill. It kind of "clamps" on. Order a new badge and you are in business. If you really want to know if your truck was an original ranger (which it looks like it is) then you can always get a Marti Report.

Not sure if you have seen this, but it has some good info on trim on our trucks: http://www.fordification.com/tech/trim.htm

Click on the images to enlarge them.
