69 f250 ranger XLT

Post by Flores »

I bought a 69 f250 Ranger XLT two weeks ago. It has a 390 with automatic transmission Camper Special. It’s in great shape. My question is how rare is it? I know that just by your web site that they made 10,739 with a 390 with a automatic transmission. All the pictureA I have seen are all ford rangers, not XTL’s. Thanks for your time. And thanks for the add. Looking forward to hearing from everybody.

They did not come out with the Ranger XLT until 1970. Someone may have added XLT badging to your truck? Here is some info on the subject, please note in the grille section that in 1970 there was a new top of the line truck Ranger XLT. Prior to 1970 the Ranger was the top of the line truck option.
Here is some additional info on the trim packages: http://www.fordification.com/tech/trim.htm

Very nice camper special! I love the 390 emblems :) I'm not a fully schooled person on the history of our trucks, but from just looking at the XLT emblem on the bed, it looks like it was added later. Letters are a little crooked.

Yup, that was added.

Here is how it is installed on a Legitimate Ranger XLT.

Have no fear though, in 1969 the Ranger was top of the line and that looks like a cool truck.

Had a body shop man that has been in the business for 50 years come by a take a look. He did some measurements. And both sides are exactly the same. He looked at it and said. These were put on at the factory. This truck came with air and carpet, with no color code. In fact the color is almost a Olive drab color. It’s not listed on the colors that they produced that year. Just trying to get info. I also have a 72 Ranger XLT, that I drive everyday. That badging is all on one line, just like the picture of the blue 72

A Marti report is your best chance at answering your questions.

I'm not trying to be mean, but never before have we seen any documentation that such a thing existed in 1969. Ranger XLT is a 70 up thing... Does the truck have carpet on the firewall?

I find it highly unlikely that Ford would put mismatched script on the bed, that it was done evenly and uniformly isn't a indication it was done at the Factory, just that it was well done... Perhaps it was done at the dealer.

I'm also not trying to put your truck down, it is a cool truck I like it, that someone put the wrong emblems on it doesn't change that... but if a Marti report says it is a Ranger XLT I'll eat my hat...

The ranger xlt's I have owned were all like how its pictured on the blue truck pictured above with the xlt behind the ranger and accompanied by the larger belt line trim. People or dealers have been known for adding emblems to trucks. I have a 72 f250 that somebody put dentside F250 emblems on the front fenders.

Are the XLT badges attached to the bed with the same type of hardware as the Ranger badges?
