1972 F100 2wd front steering components - part numbers

Post by Uncle Bill »

Hey everyone!

My 72 f100 2wd with factory P/S needs some new parts... and I am not doing so well sourcing them.

Question 1: Can anyone provide me a front suspension diagram and part numbers?

Question 2: Where can I find these parts: Pitman Arm, Drag Link, Both Tie Rods and Adjuster Sleeve
(which means I need everything)

Need to know if it is power steering or manual steering Bill.
Also I'm pretty sure the pitman arm is an obsolete part, (boneyard or member with a used one) depending on which one you need PS or manual Bendix or Ford).

There's suttle/small differences in the two different PS boxes Bill, (Saginaw versus Bendix).
This tutorial explains the difference in the two boxes.

And this tutorial will explain the difference in the two different steering arms:

Did you try DC for the tie rods and linkage?

https://www.dennis-carpenter.com/

If so, then maybe try Green Sales as they have obsolete parts, (and would at least be a good source for the Ford OEM part number).

And somewhere in this thread is the link to order the MPC from Keith, (I'd love one) that has every single part number you'll ever need:

There is also a TSB for 1972 steering, but link seems to be dead.

I got most if not all of mine from NPD.

YW @ Uncle Bill.

And for the record NPD rocks, (I bought so...much from them when building BC#16)!
But hey we wont tell anyone you cheat, (where NPD is concerned) DuckRyder LOL (it's a short drive from him in Atlanta)!
