Fuel Tank Refurbish
Not sure if this is in the correct section, but I believe it is since it relates to fuel. Has anyone embarked on the journey of splitting the old fuel tank and cleaning in order to get a truly fresh surface? I'm considering this because the inside of my tank is not in the best of conditions and it has recently sprung a leak within the seam of the tank that has to be fixed anyways.

I've heard of tractor restorers doing that with rare models that don't have replacements available.
even going as far as putting another tank inside the original.
It would be cheaper and easier to replace the tank.
If you want a project , you can relocate the tank outside of the cab.
I've heard about Bronco II and IHC Scout tanks that fit behind the axle and have a side fill tube.
Old Mustang tanks are a popular swap but the fill tube has to be on the bed floor.
