Article 1012 - New Tachometer Drive and Cable

(1963-66 Dagenham Engine Equipped C & N 6000/7000)


A new tachometer drive and cable is now available for the models listed, to provide longer service life than the cable and the right angle drive previously used.

On a complaint basis the new drive can be installed in the following manner:

N Series: N6000/7000 WITHOUT POWER STEERING
1. Remove old cable and angle drive.
2. Discard the three (3) 1/4 "-20 x 1-1/4 " bolts.
3. Install the new drive assembly with three (3) 1/4 "-20 x 3/4" bolts and lockwashers.
4. Install new cable and route as shown in Illus. SI 186.
5. Torque cable nut to 18 to 25 inch pounds.

C Series: C6000/7000 WITHOUT POWER STEERING
1. Remove old cable, angle drive and cable support bracket.
2. Discard the three (3) 1/4 "-20 x 1-1/4" bolts.
3. Install the new drive assembly with three (3) 1/4 "-20 x 3/4 bolts and lock-washers.
4. Install new cable and support at engine and radiator support as shown in Illus. SI 187.
5. Torque cable nut to 18 to 25 inch pounds.

C & N Series WITH POWER STEERING
The instructions are the same for these units except a right angle adapter must be used in order for the cable to clear the power steering pump. The adapter mounts on top of the new straight drive.
