Article 1257 - Luggage Compartment Lock Malfunction

TSB #84 - January 26, 1968
(1967 Cortina - Model "C")

Customer complaints of sticking or inoperative luggage compartment locks may be caused by the lock mechanism jamming against the center luggage compartment door lock assembly. This problem is attributed to installation of an incorrect length center bolt and was corrected in production effective January, 1967.

In the event of customer complaints of a malfunctioning luggage compartment lock, inspect the center lock assembly retaining bolt to assure that it is not jamming the lock mechanism. The correct bolt is 1/4 in. (6.4 mm) diameter, 20UNC, 1/2 in. (12.7 mm) long. A correct replacement bolt may be procured under Part No. 111540-ES8.
