if the lever is broken it can be replaced. it is held on by an "e" clip to the lock.

And the lever is on the lock cylinder itself then?

trick that i use to do with mine before disassembly i would push the outside push button in then lock the inside and close the door then let go and that always worked for me

Push the outside button first? Ill try that, because I know some old ones you have to hold the button. But that was after you locked it. Thanks 69 ranger, Ill try that.

69rangerf100, I'm not so sure that you're wrong. The locks in my truck don't yet work (shhhhh) but I've heard that what you describe actually does work. I don't know what year they started doing it that way -or if they actually did-, but it's possible.
