factory ac / heater repairs

Post by wrkjim »

Started repairing my heat / ac box today, had cracks in the bottom of the cover.
Dura glass works great for these repairs, I ground it out then filled in the cracks.
The po threw the complete unit in the bed of the truck :x left it there for a couple years.
Ruined the blower motor but I would have replaced it anyway, When it goes back in I want it right.
Next I need to clean the inside and replace the foam that covered the flap with holes in it.
I found out about foam too hmmm there is exactly 3 million different kinds of that stuff !!!!!
Open cell, closed cell, density , texture etc ya I am an expert now haha.
The foam that is used is opem cell , light density, it is like the foam in a lawnmower filter but
needs to be gray or black. Ordered some hope it works.

hobby shop foam has been used by others to replace thier foam. at least your cracks were repairable. i have one of those factory air units that the fiberglass broke out around the steel mounts. i doubt it would hold up to a repair. but i tmihgt you never know.
