Well I've been thinking about if it would be possible to modify an AM radio to pick up FM radio waves, but after some research I realized it would either require basically new radio internals or sending it to someone else to do it. So I got the idea to modify my radio to play music from an iPod or any other MP3 player. So did some more research and I found that it is possible and a fairly straightforward process. So I proceeded to pull the radio out of my truck.
All you need is a audio jack that plugs into your MP3 player, extra wire, some basic electrical knowledge, tools to remove and disassemble the radio, and a soldering gun.
Basically what you have to do is cut your audio wire from your MP3 player and inside there are 3 wires. Those 3 wires need to be connected to 3 soldering connections on the volume control potentiometer on your radio. They hey presto your 1960s AM radio plays any music you have anytime you want.
I plan to make a video tomorrow of how well it works. And if you guys want I could make a "how to" with some pictures /diagrams and good instructions.
But for now-
