Power buckets

Post by 70-360fe »

Was at the junkyard this past weekend and saw a nice pair of power buckets in an explorer. I'm thinking about going back to get then just wondering how hard it would be to get the power features to work. Would I have to trace down and pull a bunch of relays to get features working? Anybody done this before, thanks.

I am using the power seat bases out of a 1998ish ford explorer and the seats out of a 1995 f150. The power seat bases are self contained as long as you get it right from where the 2 wires plug into the floor. This year explorer has a aluminum seat base with a metal base that mounts to the floor and is connected by rivets that I drilled out to remove the metal. I made new metal brackets that I bolted to the aluminum and bolted in the truck. The 2 power wires will get hooked up then I will have a 6 way power seat and the f150 seat also has the power lumbar support. 40/20/40 seat is what I am using and it will be leather someday. Some of the explorer limited had the pass seat power bases so you can have power on both sides like me.

Sorry I didn't get why you would take your cordless drill with you until I re read what I wrote. You don't need the cordless drill until you get home. The power seat base metel is bolted to the floor of the explorer, the aluminum is bolted to the bottom of the seat. When you get it home is when you will need to drill the rivets and separate the aluminum and metal. If you pm me your email address I will email you some pictures when the computer gets back.

Got a red leather seat out of a caddy in almost prefect condition, was power. I left the base and got a power base off from a 98 explorer, will be much easier to wire in then the orginal caddy 6 wires and separt switch.
A pic would be nice if possible a little confused I was just going to bolt a couple off steel plates to the base and then to seat. Thanks for the tip on the explorer 2 wire hook up! I will pm my e-mail address I would like to see what your talking about.
