got a faily decent dash pad out of a salvage yard today no cracks except a couple lil ones by the speaker hole ..its still soft in most of the areas......... SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT DO YA PUT ON EM TO MAKE EM LOOK GOOD AGAIN JUST ARMOR ALL OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT I WANNA MAKE IT LOOK BETTER BUT ALSO PROTECT IT I WANNA USE IT A FEW YRS THEN IM GOIN WITH CUSTOM INT,,,, THANKS...
Just lay an old towel on top of the pad and soak with with oil. Let it sit for a couple days keeping the towel and dash pad wet. The fade with wipe away once the oil soaks in.
Baby oil won't crack the vinyl??? Being it is oil I just use plain water to clean mine. I would like to put something on it but, I don't want it to get a bunch of cracks from the heat. I have cracks on the speaker area already.
Ranchero50 wrote:Yep, absolutely no silicone or alcohol based products. I like J+J baby oil, it lifts the dirt out of the pores and keeps the vinyl happy.
Also I have heard people at car shows who say to use pledge furniture polish also. I have never used it myself though. I use the baby oil.
