67 Door Locks
On the door locks you put the handles down to lock them, but when I shut the door they unlock every time. So I actually have to lock them by key. What Causes this?

Re: 67 Door Locks
I think its an old safety mech so you dont lock your stuff in the cab. All I know is you have to use the key to lock/unlock the doors on a 67.

Are you sure? It does it on my 68 too. I was just thinking something was probably broke.

Re: 67 Door Locks
Pretty sure ya. Same deal on my 67, on your 68 can you lock the door then hold the outside door handle up while you close the door?

Yes, that's the way the door locks work on these old trucks. You have to use the key.
Can't lock yourself out of the truck that way!

Re: 67 Door Locks
On my 67, I shut the door from the inside, then push down on the inside handle or lock it from the outside with the key.
Sometimes it's a pain but that's one of the charms of owning a 67.

Re: 67 Door Locks
My 68 engine overheats(Cause it's a boat motor) and the AOD I got for free just went out in it. So it would of cost me about 600 bucks to put a c4 back in it. So I just bought another truck for 800 bucks. The 67 is in much better condition, had a stock 352 and medium fx trans. Engine was rebuilt, the oil pressure shows it. Shifts great. The engine didn't run, but I popped the carb off my 351 on it and bam started right up. Purrs like a kitten.

my 69 does the same thing. i see this as the ultimate never-locking-your-keys-in-the-truck-and-looking-like-a-jackass feature.

You have lever action door locks on your 69? If so, you've got 67 doors

Re: 67 Door Locks
My "looking-like" isn't trying to lock my keys in the door (because I never lock the doors), it's leaving the headlights on! Whenever I leave the grocery store, I say to myself, "Who's that dork who left his headlights on? Oh, that dork is, ummm, me!"samericsson67 wrote:my 69 does the same thing. i see this as the ultimate never-locking-your-keys-in-the-truck-and-looking-like-a-jackass feature.
