Hello all. I have a 72 F250 4x4 that has factory air, however, I wanted to delete it and just replace with a regular heater box. Will a 73-79 heater box work?
Thanks in advance,
Joe.

Having owned both I can say that they are totally different in mounting / the shape of the assembly /and ducting outlets. I had the plenum from my 79 and wanted to try it-but never did. It would be a lot...of work to try to make it work-but not impossible I'd say. The dent era also used a totally different control assembly-that operated dampers using vacum actuated "motors" or diaphragms. There is a upgrade a few guys here have done to our existing heater only assembly using the dent era motor and blower wheel that helps tremendously. I hope to do that soon as it takes forever and a day for my defrost to clear the windshield some days.

Re: Heater Box interchange?
Thanks Basketcase. The only reason I asked is, im trying to do this as low budge as possible and there is a guy here locally that has a complete heater box for 20 bucks out of a 73. I'll have to find a donor truck without air.
Happy New year.
