I'm looking for a fresh-air heater box for my '72 F-250. I recently ran across one for a '67 Bronco that looks identical to ones I've seen on this forum for the '68-'72 F's without A/C. I was wondering if anyone knows definitively, if a Bronco NON A/C fresh air heater box will fit in a 1972 F-250.

You might have just stumbled upon some very good news for the guys here with factory AC, (including yourself). I believe the two factory heater housings are slightly different but may offer some benefit to bumpside owners. In the below pic the fresh air boot is round on the EB's, (early Bronco's) and our trucks fresh air rubber boot is rectangular in shape-making it hard to adapt the boot. But the heater housing itself looks very similar to that of our trucks heater housing.
Here's the EB's heater housing:

The thing to pay attention to is the similarity of the two housings. And more specifically if the EB's factory AC core is being reproduced as I know how much trouble everyone here has finding a core for the factory AC bumps. It might be worth it to do a little more research for the EB's factory AC core availability and similarity as there are so...many more parts being produced for our trucks little sister the EB.
Here's our trucks heater housing:

And also note another "thorn in the butt" we've all realized here that have owned our trucks for a few years might have been solved also. The two square defroster outlets for our trucks have never quite satisfied a frosted over windshield fast enough for many of us, (especially me) even with a completely rebuilt heater assembly. Ryan tried to adapt a dent era defroster duct duct to his dash, (not sure what his outcome was) but look at how easily the EB's plastic defroster duct would hook up to our existing round duct/hoses. The hardest part would still be to "massage" the dash, (sheet metal work) to fit the long narrow openings for the defroster duct-but would be well worth it in my opinion. Here's the EB's defroster plastic ducting I'm referring to:

I know for a fact those fresh-air ducts are not part of the heater box. So, I'm assuming if you get a Bronco box and a F-series intake boot, you'd be set.

One of the mods I intend to make on my truck is to adapt a newer model Ford AC vent, which pivots and has collapsible louvers, to make my defroster vents in the dash pad directional. I got the idea riding in my stepson's 2010 F150 and fiddling with the AC vent. It looks to be about the right size and is available aftermarket.

I'm not sure... I did a little bit of checking and I couldn't find anywhere where EBs were listed as having A/C at all! All I could find were aftermarket retrofit A/C units. The part number for the only EB heater core listed is the same as the '68-'72 F Non A/C core though.basketcase0302 on Tue Jan 08, 2013 7:57 pm
