Question about 67 armrests...

Post by Calfdemon »

Can any of you 67 guys with armrests in your bump please take photos of placement and if possible, can you take one of the armrests off and show a photo of hour they mount and what they mount in to? Of if anyone knows off hand, can you please chime in?

Did the 67 bumps with armrests have diffent door panels that ones without?

We got a pair of 67 arm rests for CNM67's truck and we want to put them in. Obviously, there are 2 bolts per arm rest that hold them on, but what do they screw into? Was there just a nut on the back side of the door panel? Or was there some sort of mounted anchor where they bolted into? Trying to do these right the first time and not screw up a hard to find pair of 67 door panels.

Thanks in advance!!
-Rich

It's been awhile since I put mine on, but I'm pretty sure they just screwed into the door panel...I remember the bolts they sent from lmc with them were too long and I had to cut them...when they were in at the regular lengths they were messing with the window and making the handle drag/hard to turn...if nobody chimes in, I'll go out and take a look after work tomorrow.

The attachment points on the door are angled. Ford created made a square hole with a sheet metal bracket for the angled attachment points. I will look for a photo when I get a chance.

The 67 armrests are unique one year only. Some other Ford projects may use the same armrests.

Thanks for the replies.. I can see that the bolts would go in at a downward angle based on the holes in the armrests, but I am unclear what you mean in the rest of your post. A photograph of what they mount into would be very helpful. If they were just screwed into the door panel, I would think that after someone actually used the armrests to lean on or pull, that it would warp or bend the door panel and that is not something I want to see happen. So mounting these properly is the way to go.

Thanks again for the help!

They screw though the panel and into the door itself behind the regular door panel. The inside door skin. I will see if I can find pic.

http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... _inner.jpg Hope this explains what I was trying to say. They use clips that the screws go into just like the 68-72, but only use two instead of 3. I am pretty sure the clips was the same :hmm: Can't remember for sure my brother had a 67 several years ago and I messed with the panels and window regulator so I am only going by memory on the type of clips

Perfect!! Thanks a ton! That is exactly the info I was looking for (dont know why I didnt think to look in the tech area). So the 67 doors should have the anchor points already built in and then we can put some body clips for the bolts to screw into... Appreciate the help guys! :fr:

Your welcome....you'll find that the arm rests are kinda pointless...mine are mainly there for looks...they are to small to be used for arm rests, and they are kinda hard to grab when you want to close the door...

Where did you get the armrests? Are they original, or one of the repros out there?

The ones we got are original FoMoCo armrests in great condition. Bought them off of a fellow Fordification member here.
