Re: Painting instrument bezel
I have all the original gauges that work and in great shape that I am going to use. I bought an aftermarket tach that matches the other gauges that will be used. I will post a picture of it when it is back together and in truck.

Michael, Bezel looks great! I have one question though did you paint the instrument part also or buy it in white? That also look good. Thanks SHU

Re: Painting instrument bezel
I posted this here a long time ago but here is my F600.
These are 3 3/8 speedo and tach and 2 1/8 other guages. None of them fit the holes as the originals mount behind the panel. I fit these surface mount and it came out pretty good, but you will be one with a die grinder opening all those holes. Check my photobucket for pics behind and all to see what I did.

I only see 3 generic pictures of your truck when i go to photobucket and search for you - none of the gauges ? - is that correct ?la1031 wrote:I posted this here a long time ago but here is my F600.

Re: Painting instrument bezel
Where did you find white background speedo and gauges with black letters?? Interesting I have never noticed one from the factory like yours. Always thought they were all black with white letters.michael69 wrote:I used argent silver and gloss black. Was going to paint the FORD letters black, but I have a f600 cluster I am going to swap in so I never did.

What type of paint/gloss did you use for this it looks good I'm wanting to try this myselfmichael69 wrote:I didn't use any primer. I just scuffed it up real good with scotch brite.Wiped down with lacquer thinner, sprayed the black.Let it dry for a day and taped the black.Just used new razor blades to trim the excess tape. Then wiped down again with thinner what was not taped and sprayed the silver.

Re: Painting instrument bezel
Here is what my son and I did for his truck. Went with white to match the two tone factory paint job. Like mention before, tapeing off is the hard part.
