New to the forum from the Netherlands
Hello all,
New to Ford pickups here, recently bought myself a low mileage 1970 California F-250 with a 360 engine and C6 automatic at an auction in a moment of what can only have been temporary insanity knowing the fuel prices around here. On the plus side it is pretty rust free but it does seem to have a few "creative modifications" as indicated by a hidden switch a previous owner installed in the ashtray.
I am now in the process of doing her up and working on getting the old girl registered in time for my summer holidays.
This being my first "big engine" Ford (the only Ford I ever owned before was a 1983 Ford Escort 1.1L) and it having a history, I will probably run into quite a few snags along the way and hope to be able to get some good advice with issues I run into.

That's a good looking truck. Like the 'stance'. Thanks for indulging us with the pics. Love to see the engine bay too. There is always something that someone will notice about what's in there! Always good to start by assuring that the ignition and carburation is working properly.
Have fun with it and keep us up with your improvements and discoveries.

from Colorado! Yes that is a nice looking truck! It looks nice and straight, and as you mentioned it looks pretty rust free.

Re: New to the forum from the Netherlands
The engine bay looks pretty standard as far as I can tell, I have replaced the original distributor with a Pertronix Ignitor II billet version together with a low ohm coil and new plugs and leads as the old stuff seemed to have been in there for at least a decade. I temporarily wired the coil and distributor power up through a relay so the coil can get the full 12volt and still need to route the wiring properly and adjust the rebuilt carb. The only thing I am puzzled about is the fact that the kickdown rod appeared to be missing.

Great looking truck you have there!
Really is rust free compared to some we see.

There's a bit of surface rust on the cabin floor, which isn't too bad, but it's definitely going to need some rust control, sound deadening and carpeting. The previous owner seems to have installed a pair of long range tanks of which I am not yet sure whether to keep them or ditch them at some point in order to replace them with propane tanks for a dual fuel installation.

Pretty certain those tanks are a factory option on our trucks

Definitely not a factory option as far as I can tell from all of my research so far. Seems more likely to be a dealer installed option like the electronically controlled trailer brake system and the dealer installed A/C in my truck.

Wish I had your hot air 'intake' piece that attaches below the air cleaner to activate the damper inside the 'horn'. Tested my valve this weekend but without the directed warmer/hot air the valve is slow to close and open the full air flow capacity. (Diggin' your truck.)
