'67 heater knob question
I have a "67 F100 with the three heater knob controls in the center of the dash. The middle one sticks out all the way and I cannot get it to go back into the dash--it pops right back out. Does anyone know why this is like this? It was like this when I bought the truck. Can I fix this?
Thanks, guys.

What function does the bezel indicate it controls?

Re: '67 heater knob question
the heater box has a stuck plate in it. you will have to take it apart and free up the plate. i think that is what that knob goes to. if not it is a stuck heater hose valve.

I never saw these replies. I didn't mean to be rude. Thank you, guys. I'll take another look at it. The knob still pops out.

Re: '67 heater knob question
I think the center knob opens and closes the water valve that is located in line on one of the heater hoses. Your valve may be stuck.

I don't remember, but my '67 knob sticks, too. I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

Re: '67 heater knob question
the middle one should be the temp control mine used to stick too i went out under the hood and there's a little weird looking thing in one of the heater hoses and just get some pliers or something and try to pull the wire towards the front of the truck and it should push the knob in inside the cab

Re: '67 heater knob question
Might not hurt to pull the knob/cable and give it a good clean and lube. Nearly every heater box I've pulled had rusty and sticking control cables, or valve.

Mine is like that too, something I plan to tinker with soon. I'll take pics when I do.
