The radio, is it truck specific, or will any 67 Ford AM radio work in there?
Will older radios fit in there?
Cigarette lighters. I can't find one in mine, I assume it's missing. Please tell me this one doesn't have a weird model year specific feature about it LOL.
Headliner. Model year specific?
And lastly, (my search fu must be bad tonight) Can I use body panels from any year of 67-72 and be correct? I'm fairly sure the answer is yes,but wanted to be sure.
Thanks.

Re: Some possibly stupid 67 questions?
Last two questions, the headliner and trim will interchange, some earlier trim used seperate corner pieces. Headliner is the same size, color and texture varied for different years and trim levels.
Body panels will also interchange, trim varied throughout the years. The front grille has a matching stone-deflector(valence between grille and bumper) for the 67-69, and another for the 70-72 grilles. Some deflectors of have end pieces (hang down and blend into the fenders) are either be spot-welded or bolted on.
Radiator core-supports varied, I've seen smaller rad. openings for the 6-cylinder trucks, vs. the large openings for the V8's. The hood latch-striker also changed, as did the upper 2 captive nuts that secure it.
If your truck is the base model-no Custom Cab or Ranger- it might not have had a lighter.
That's all I got...!

67 radio
68&up
as far as putting any old 67 radio(mustang, fairlane, etc.)
what size issues will come into play
The dash knobs and bezels differ slightly when comparing the '67 versions with '68 and later versions.
In Fig. 1, you can see the font used on the two lighter bezels is similar, but the '67 version on the left has a thinner font style. The '70 lighter on the right has a much bolder font style, plus the silver button center is sunken in just a bit more.

In Fig. 2, you can see another comparison. On the left are two choke cable assemblies. The top version is a '67 and the '68 version on the bottom. Note the differences in knob thickness and edge details, which is also obvious in the side view of the two cigarette lighters. Also note the differences in thread pitch of the choke cables, the different style retaining nuts and the locating stud on the '68 bezel.

Not that you can't make other yrs work, but won't be original

Re: Some possibly stupid 67 questions?
I do belive that the doors are a 67 only piece. Other years will fit if installed as a complete assembly but to be year correct only the 67 doors have the unique setup for the internal mechanisms for the windows and door latch. Have seen a few of these trucks that came with no cig lighter. Or antenna or radio for that matter.

As I understand it the hood is also different. Nothing obvious unless you look at the bottom side. As I understand it the webbing is different. You would have to be an absolute purest to notice the difference.TNIceWolf wrote:I do belive that the doors are a 67 only piece. Yes. No.kf7mjf wrote:The radio, is it truck specific, or will any 67 Ford AM radio work in there?
No. Well... not quite true... but mostly no. There are too many different variations and manufacturers to go through, Motorola, Bendix, Philco, and then there was, I think, American Automatic, or something like that, who Ford used for bezels and radios until 1966, who sued Ford for dropping them and making their own bezels in 1967.kf7mjf wrote:Will older radios fit in there?
Yes, this one does have weird model year specific features.kf7mjf wrote:Cigarette lighters. I can't find one in mine, I assume it's missing. Please tell me this one doesn't have a weird model year specific feature about it LOL.

Not in size and shape or early trim, but is for fabric/pattern (which is also specific for trim levels).kf7mjf wrote:Headliner. Model year specific?
The answer is No. But...kf7mjf wrote:And lastly, (my search fu must be bad tonight) Can I use body panels from any year of 67-72 and be correct? I'm fairly sure the answer is yes,but wanted to be sure.
Newer hoods will fit, just different internal bracing.
Newer doors will fit, just completely different inside, so swap 'em both if you really have to.
Front fenders... no problem.
Back end... well.. reflector holes added in '68, moved later, then cut in to the back of the bump. So... all different.
Grills are all different.
Front deflectors all different.
You're welcome. Give me a call. I'll help you work stuff out.kf7mjf wrote:Thanks.

Re: Some possibly stupid 67 questions?
LOL thanks for the answers guys. I want to put in a cigarette lighter as a power port, but only if it doesn't involve drilling into the dash. I think there is an open hole for one, I'll have to look again.
Well, ignition switch, cigarette lighter and radio, and everything else is welding and paint. I don't feel too bad.

Re: Some possibly stupid 67 questions?
Cool..almost certain there is an open hole there too. Plus I found an original radio to put in.
