carpet- will dents fit in bumps

Post by michael69 »

Does anyone know for sure if the carpet for 73-79 regular cabs will fit 67-72 regular cabs. The floor pans are the same if you buy replacements. The reason I ask is I want to put the Cut Pile carpet in my truck and it is only offered for the 73-79 years. I have heard that the carpet will fit,but want to know for sure before I buy it. Thanks for your help.

In the current NPD catalog (p. 26; I know, because I'm also looking at carpet), they have carpet sets for older Fords, bumps, and dents. They specifically said in there that if you want cut pile carpet for your bump, then buy the dent carpet. In short, according to NPD, you should be good. But do call them first to verify!

Yeah, Thanks I just saw that yesterday and was going to post it.but you beat me to it. Just make sure that if you want the cut pile carpet, and not the loop pile you have to order it for a 1974 or up. The 1973 is still the loop pile like ours. So be sure to order 74 for cut pile. I talked to a guy at NPD today that seemed like he knew what he was talking about. I ask what the difference was and he said the length is all.The dent sides are longer because no tank behind seat so if you ordered a bump carpet with no in cab tank it is the same as the dent carpets. Hope this helps other people. Also they don't send out carpet samples like the others do. So you have to send them a piece of your old carpet from under seat or some where its not faded and they will try and match it the best they can. That is if you want to stay same color.
