Re: Radio
If I recall correctly, you remove the knobs by pulling them
remove the nuts from the volume and station select shafts
remove the screws that hold the bezel in place and remove the bezel
remove a couple of screws at the rear of the radio
radio should now slide towards you into the cab with not much resistance
remove the antenna coax
disconnect the wires

Re: Radio
take a look in the tech section of this site. there it probably a diagram. my '68 has tabs that keep the nobs/radio in place. you may have to take out the glovebox to get the radio out that way. I don't know if your truck is set up the same way.

Re: Radio
Yup, glovebox has to come out. MUCH easier that way, anyhow!

Re: Radio
Thanks for the help guys. On the subject of the year, I have no clue. My truck is made of 9 separate trucks. I know the dash and the radio are not 67 if that helps. Also, how does one take the glove box out? On a side note. The lever the opens and closes the valve to my heater core and become disconnected from its wire. Do I need to take the radio out anyway to fix that?

Re: Radio
with the radio and glovebox out of the way, it will be much easier to access the heating controls.
my guess is that your glovebox is the standard fare, cardboard, and may have a few holes. might be a good time to fix that. now, to get it out, there are screws along the edge, just inside the box. if you have an emergency flasher switch in the left corner of the box, you will have to gently disconnect it. should be straight forward. once you get the box out, look behind the radio to see if there is a speaker there. if it is a stock setup, if I remember correctly, there is a bracket that is on the rear of the radio and connects behind it. I don't recall how much visible room there is. this info should also be in the tech area. if not, let me know, and I'll take a picture of the '68 original shop manual and post it.
if you replace original parts, I suggest keeping them around.... just in case. especially if the radio is fomoco. those are hard to find, for those of us who like to keep things stock! keep us posted!
